Old Poetry Blog Revisit #1
May. 17th, 2010 11:14 amYou were beautiful
on your wedding day
Straight and fierce eyed and smiling
Happy
I'm sorry, Grandma
He was a weak man
Momma did better.
I know my father loves her
with every action and word.
He is wonderful and we are
Happy
For my part, Grandma,
I am still searching, but he is kind to me.
I see her; I hear him
A beautiful picture, but an off key tune
And I wonder if he ever bothers to sing to her
More than anything, I want to see her
Happy
Am I reading into things, Momma?
Sometimes, I'm not sure.
I have navigated through storms
and slept beside warm fires
I choose my battles.
More than anything, I want to be
Happy
on your wedding day

Happy
I'm sorry, Grandma
